Who: Hug h (Hug h)

No specimen available

Notes:
Found in mixed conifer Forest (primarily Spruce)

I had the opportunity to see and smell a Tricholoma matsutake at Meany Lodge Mushroom weekend at Stampede Pass WA last week. I then found a Matsutake on my way back to Snoqualmie and Verified ID at PSMS ID clinic last Monday Night (with help of Danny Miller) Then safely consumed same.

Found this one today in Clatsop Tree farm inland of Gearhart. Scent definitely seems right… to my nose piney, Wasabi horseradish scent.

Tricholoma matsutake is a Eurasian mushroom. The western North American matsutake is a different (but similar) species, Tricholoma murrillianum. See https://doi.org/10.1080/00275514.2017.1326780.
