Notes:
Fruiting prolifically in grass between apple, maple and Douglas fir trees. Very deep, blood red stems(nearly to apex). Fruiting bodies dried and available for voucher. Could be construed as X. chrysenteron, but in my experience the stems are far less red and color only extends slightly up the stem with that species, in addition to the caps being far less red cast throughout(these were nearly maroon w/mature fruiting bodies). Both are edible species, but not the most desirable boletes for the table(IMO).
