Collection location: Cable, Wisconsin, USA [Click for map]
Who: Britt Bunyard (Fungi magazine) (bbunyard)
Notes:
Fifth year in a row to find this in this stretch of forest in northwest Wisconsin. Found in “Rainbow Lakes Wilderness Area” of Drummond woods just north of Cable, west of Hwy 63. Found along stretch of North Country trail. Habitat is mixed but all specimens were found closest to very large, old white pines. And this is the same habitat where this one is always seen. We continue to find more every year as we now know where to look and how to look: spot the very large white pine and walk right to it.
