Observation 340553: Podonectria Petch

Notes:
Found during the West Virginia Mushroom Club’s summer foray. Growing over scale insects on a dead, standing (but still flexible) Hypericum prolificum shrub in a wet meadow. Pseudothecia connected by white mycelium. All structures inamyloid. Asci bitunicate. Asci measurements from Piximetre: (151) 162.6 – 175.5 (192) × (10.1) 10.9 – 11.6 (12.8) µm, Q = (12.7) 14.9 – 15.9 (16.5); N = 6, Me = 169.3 × 11.3 µm; Qe = 15
Individual asci: 162.57 × 12.84 µm, 191.97 × 11.60 µm, 150.97 × 10.05 µm, 165.88 × 10.93 µm, 168.73 × 11.29 µm, 175.47 × 11.03 µm
Spores hyaline, filiform and septate. Did not notice staurosporous conidia or an anamorph of any kind. Spore measurements from Piximetre: (133.6) 140.3 – 173.9 (186.3) × (2.7) 2.8 – 3.6 (3.8) µm, Q = (37.4) 42.4 – 53.5 (62.7); N = 17, Me = 157.9 × 3.3 µm; Qe = 48.7
Individual spores: 167.62 × 2.67 µm, 138.27 × 3.26 µm, 147.49 × 3.37 µm, 167.07 × 3.50 µm, 167.51 × 3.13 µm, 178.86 × 3.45 µm, 186.31 × 3.84 µm, 140.33 × 3.75 µm, 144.13 × 2.82 µm, 159.66 × 3.42 µm, 148.04 × 2.91 µm, 150.61 × 3.04 µm, 150.61 × 2.84 µm, 162.58 × 3.57 µm, 173.88 × 3.18 µm, 159.37 × 3.12 µm, 133.58 × 3.49 µm
