Recognized by sight: easy to check what this is by looking at the microscopical characters – the spores are spiny in Laccaria, smooth in Macrocystidia.
Macrocystidia caps are much darker than in Laccaria, and the stipe is much darker as well, and not fibrous as in Laccaria.
