Observation 347072: Suillus granulatus group

When: 2018-10-26

Collection location: Seven Tubs Natural Area, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

Specimen available

Notes:
This mushroom was found in a spot where no white pines trees were found. (I checked the immediate area.) Instead, the habitat featured a 2-3 needle pine (not IDed, maybe jack pine), and oak. Hemlock nearby. White pine is found in Seven Tubs Natural Area, but as far as I could tell, not in this rocky hilltop area.

Most of my “Suillus granulatus” observations have recently been proposed as “Suillus granulatus sensu. auct. amer.” Given the habitat, I believe this observation deserves an even more ambiguous proposal.

Sorting through my fall 2018 material soon. I’m pretty sure I preserved this one.
