Observation 347465: Amanita lavendula group

When: 2018-10-07

Collection location: Shumans Lake, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

No specimen available

Notes:
Mainly hemlock, birch, beech, and maple; no oak.

It seems that all the forests around here had plenty of “lavendula”, right up until snow and a hard freeze brought the season of mycorrhizal mushrooms to an end. These were found during a period of warm weather.

Spores globose or nearly so with maximum length/diameter approaching 9.5 microns.
