Observation 3508: Inocybe albodisca Peck (Site ID) (Inocybe grammata)

When: 2007-06-08

Collection location: Bassetts, Sierra Co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)

No specimen available

Notes:
Another species id’ed by me from microscopic details. Got much better at that this time up there… But these were id’ed by the nodulous spores, which were unique from all the spores I took a look at up there. The spores for these are almost like fat rectangles, with bumpy projections at each end. I think Dr. Desjardin refered to them as “booted” spores. Also the disc of the cap is smooth, although I thought the cap was shaggy, but it was one of those, “but not that shaggy” things, so it is called smooth. That id’ed it as I. albodisca.
