Found this single fruitbody growing in marshy willow thickets in the valley of river Zyryanka, a tributary of river Ob. The species is listed as rare in the 2008 Red Book of the Novosibirsk district, with only one registered observation (not counting this one).

It seems different from typical images of Verpa conica which it is often listed as synonym: it is slimmer, darker, and its fertile surface is conspicuously dotted. The specimen in these photos is very similar to the photo of V. digitaliformis in our Red Book.
