Notes:
On dead sweetgum branch that was buried under pine needle duff. Inner surface smooth, outer surface slightly tomentose (very fine hairs). Spores cylindric, 3.5-5 × 1.25-1.75 (2) μm, septate. Asci clavate, thick-walled & 8-spored. Paraphyses fusiform, multiseptate.

these are characteristic of the genus Ionomidotis. take a bit of tissue and place it on a white, ceramic plate. put a drop of KOH on it and see if any color leeches out. describe that color here in a comment. note that the color may change hue or intensity overtime (seconds to minutes).
