Recognized by sight: Small red-staining agaricus under Monterey Cypress. Veil when present fragile, small and dark. Not A. benesii, and A. fusco/brunneofibrillosus has more fibrillose cap and larger veil among other differences, pattersoniae is larger with more robust stipe, etc. Incultorum aka cupreobrunneus does not stain red. Apparently the vinaceous to lilac blush is a characteristic of this species.
This species has been found here previously.
