A very photogenic mushroom, Amanita muscaria var. formosa is quite common here in S.W. Ontario. Fruiting in a variety of habitats including but not limited to Eastern White Pine(Pinus strobus), Red Oak or Champion Oak, Quercus rubra as well as other deciduous and coniferous hosts. There may well be other variations that I’m not familiar with, but it seemed the most common is the identification I entitled it according to publications.
