Very similar in many respects (including chemistry), but the best character here to distinguish them is that this is strongly sorediate in the upper parts. I’ve seen western populations with scarcely any soredia, just at the very tips. But this one is nice and obvious. Also, note that C. scabriuscula has pretty much exclusively vertical podetia. C. furcata is more bushy with branches going every which way.
