Observation 370205: Psathyrella debilis Peck

Notes:
Growing in mulch. Annulus lacking. Caps with appendiculate veil remnants. Young gills white, becoming grayish to black. Pileipellis composed of hyaline rounded cells. Pleurocystidia absent. Cheilocystidia smooth, thin-walled, utriform to fusoid-ventricose. Cheilocystidia measurements: (22.3) 24.3 – 34.2 (40) × (8.8) 11.1 – 14.5 (16) µm, Q = (1.7) 1.9 – 2.8 (3.5); N = 30, Me = 29.8 × 12.9 µm; Qe = 2.3. Basidia 4-sterigmate and sphaeropedunculate. Spores dark brown, smooth and irregularly ellipsoid. Remaining dark brown in 1M KOH. Some spores heart-shaped to mitten-shaped. Spore measurements from non-heart-shaped spores: (10) 10.9 – 14 (14.5) × (5.1) 5.6 – 7.3 (8.5) µm, Q = (1.6) 1.7 – 2.3 (2.4); N = 30, Me = 12.4 × 6.4 µm; Qe = 2. Spores measurements from heart-shaped to mitten-shaped spores: (11.2) 11.8 – 13.5 (14.3) × (7.8) 9.7 – 12.2 (12.3) µm, Q = 1 – 1.3 (1.6); N = 11, Me = 12.7 × 10.6 µm; Qe = 1.2
