Observation 370883: Caloplaca Th. Fr.

Substrate: Old wood pier structure on beach
Other: I wonder if these are a lichenized species and the black area surrounding the apothecia is the lichen thallus. The apothecia were very tiny.

Recognized by sight: Sensu lato. I expect this is lichenized, but I don’t think the black area is lichen thallus.

Recognized by sight: no thalline margin, dark thallus … although it’s not obviously sorediate/isidiate when you zoom in (Jason may be right about the dark area not actually being lichenized thallus)
