It was already cut and sitting on a log

when we first spotted it. I’ll check with April and look for where it was cut next time I’m there.

I see bay trees in the picture, but not sure if that is what it is from

My guess is that it’s an aged specimen of a red-belted conk, due to it’s size and how common they are supposed to be in the area. Because it was detached from the tree and sitting on a log, there wasn’t a way to know if it came off of the same log or somewhere nearby.
