Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]
In Zone 02 under the area’s usual mix of trees. This is the spot near a trail intersection that has produced a bunch of Russulas from the compacta group over the years, as well as Scleroderma earthballs and at least one unidentified hypogeous fungus. The compacta group mushrooms were there again today but so were some redder ones, this Leccinum, and what might have been an Amanita citrina but was in poor condition.
