These are perhaps waterlogged due to the major storms that occurred during the week prior to finding, or perhaps it is the inolens variety. Either way, there is little to no scent of anise, which should be quite potent. This is a first find for me so I have no comparison of the norm.

would help distinguish this from Hohenbuehelia petaloides (or perhaps support a proposal of H. petaloides).
