Collection location: Steppe of Karaganda district, Kazakhstan [Click for map]
It is on silica rocky cliffs and stone blocks out of trees.
It is the most abundant Aspicilia here and change colouring between light grey up to dark greenish-grey (greenish-grey dominates).
This Aspicilia lichen is the most common species that grows nearby Aspicilia desetorum group (including Aspicilia maculata & A. transbaicalica) in steppe areas. I took its samples because it was more available without hammer (cause it is abundant).
The dark rim along edges is often absent (when crowded)
