Growing on bare soil among mosses in a hardwood forest. Setiform hairs present, some with multiple roots. Marignal hairs up to 680 µm long. Asci unitunicate, operculate, thin-walled and containing 8 uniseriate spores. Spores hyaline with cyanophilous ornamentation consisting of warts and blunt ridges. Spore walls not loosening when heated in lactophenol cotton blue. Spore measurements: (13.4) 15.4 – 17.9 (19.1) × (9.7) 10.5 – 12 (12.6) µm, Q = 1.3 – 1.6 (1.8); N = 30, Me = 16.5 × 11.2 µm; Qe = 1.5. Spines up to 2.4 µm tall (20 measured).
