What a delight to see a contribution from Kenya.

Very best,

This species looks very much like M. dolichaula – with its small dark dots on the white umbonate cap. Macrolepiota procera has big scales and makes a much browner impression; it is probably confined to Europe and Asia, but its exact distribution is not known. Macrolepiota dolichaula on the other hand, has been reported from east Africa (Kenya in fact), Sri Lanka, and Australia, and it is also found in Thailand. Next time you find it, keep a specimen for science!
