Observation 44343: Marasmius oreades (Bolton) Fr.

When: 2010-04-15

Collection location: Southeast Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

Notes:
Always examine the base of stipe when picking the Fairy Ring: it should have grass and moss adherring to it. If it doesn’t, don’t pick it!

This collection was an attempt at cultivation I did 2 years ago. Looks like it worked! Used my own fresh mushrooms for innoculum. I think fresh is always better. I prefer to eat this species dried: just tastes better to me.

Hey great work! Did you spawn it indoors or did you just mix in the mushrooms with your lawn fertilizer? That looks like a nice fairy ring :)
