Habitat: Mixed pine-hardwoods, in trail on ground
Cap: 7 cm, dark brown, darker in center, convex, slightly tacky, smooth; context white, slowly stained pinkish brown
Pore surface: white, not depressed at stalk, stained reddish brown, 2 pores/mm, tube depth 5 mm
Stalk: 7.5 cm length, 16 mm apex, 21 mm middle, 17 mm base, apex white with white reticulation, brown below apex to middle with light brown reticulation, reticulation halfway down stalk, basal mycelium grayish green but white at very base; flesh white, slowly stained brownish pink, insect damage dark brown
Chemical reactions: on cap—KOH dark red, NH4OH orange, FeSO4 dark olive
Odor and taste: odor not distinctive, taste sour first then sweet
Spore print: dull yellowish brown
