Who: Jim Sogaard
I believe this was apparently growing from soil in a red oak, sugar maple, basswood forest. The slide is rather dark but not strongly color-caste. My scan has been brightened and the biggest difference is that in the slide the pale areas of the cap are mostly uniformly olive-yellow. Unfortunately I didn’t go further than this one shot. In case it isn’t obvious, the cap is rather strongly funnel-shaped. I hope maybe the distinctive combination of cap characters will be recognizable to someone. After all these years I would like to give this a name!
