Observation 45395: Agrocybe praecox (Pers.) Fayod

When: 2010-05-14

Collection location: Beaverton, Washington Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: ANC

No specimen available

We put some cinnamon cap spawn from Fungi Perfecti that failed to fruit inside out here last year. Now we see a bunch of mushrooms, more than anywhere anytime in our yard. The only thing is they look more yellow than brick red. Their orange-brown spore print is in the picture as well.

I have collected Agrocybe preacox many times (at least that is what i thought it was) it was definitely an Agrocybe species anyways.

probably resident fungi rather than cinnamon cap

I called Fungi Perfecti and the mushroom is supposed to be chestnut colored at the center of the cap with bright yellow edges. So the resident mushrooms in my back yard must have liked the spawn…

Anybody know this mushroom anyways?
