Observation 45848: Cortinarius subalpinus Moser nom. prov.

When: 2010-05-21

Collection location: Yosemite National Park, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)

Specimen available

This is a tentative ID until I get a confirmation from Dimitar.
The spores seem to be in the right range and shape. They were ~ 7.1-8.1 X 6.0-7.1 microns.
They were growing on the ground near some cedar and fir.
The problem is that the KOH reaction only seemed to turn darker on the cap and cap flesh and other surfaces. Did not see a reddish reaction and what darkening initially occured seemed to fade within 10 minutes.
