Observation 46698: Dasyscyphus bicolor (Bull.) Fuckel

When: 2010-06-07

Collection location: Bassetts, Sierra Co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)

No specimen available

Notes:
Found under mixed conifer forest.

Found by others in the spring fungi of the Sierras course.

Brough in by Parathi, and they were all dry, and just a bunch of tiny fuzzy white dots on the branch. I told her to wrap it in a paper towel, a pore water on it, and leave it for an hour. Which we did. And then when unwrapped, there they were, the small yellow discs. At first I couldn’t tell if it was an asco or a slime mold, but they revived quite nicely.
