We found this species at the NJMA foray held the weekend prior. See Dave W’s obs 466910 and discussion therein (the collection is currently in my possession). Dave also found it later elsewhere — obs 472204.

Tricholoma

Hi Igor, This tricholoma was found at Kittle field off the path to Stoney Lake under oak with a few scattered hemlock nearby, but no birch. The stem was lighter at first, but reddened quickly with handling. The Tricholomas of NA book does call it the Birch Knight, but does say it can associate with other hardwoods.
Thanks,
