Habitat: mixed forest at road edge
Substrate: dead birch or alder tree
Abundance: Many
Additional notes: Very large bouquet of mushrooms growing from a dead but erect Alder or Birch tree. The caps were dry when found but did become slippery if moistened. No serious color change after a day in the fridge, odor was not mushrooms but not really garlicky either. Also considering Pholiota squarrosa as alternative ID.
