Observation 472552: Amanita Pers.

When: 2021-10-07

Collection location: Midland, Michigan, USA [Click for map]

Who: Eric (eozkan)

No specimen available

Collected this solitary mushroom that initially appeared to be be a late-season Amanita brunnescens but the morphology of the stipe base does not have the characteristic chiseled clefts. It is more similar to the rounded base of A. amerirubescens but the colors seem off for that species. Does appear to be Amanita of some kind. Would appreciate help with identification.

Coloration on cap like A. brunnescens.
No chiseled clefts on base.
