Observation 474526: Suillus Gray

When: 2021-10-24

Collection location: Wyanett Twp., Isanti Co., Minnesota, USA [Click for map]

Who: Jim Sogaard

No specimen available

Growing from sphagnum moss on a rotted conifer stump under larch, red maple, alder, birch, ash, etc. Felt soggy and was teeming with hundreds of little beasts (springtails?) and mollusks, so I did not collect.
I’m guessing Suillus based on the wet cap (it hadn’t rained for several days). The scales on the stipe might suggest Leccinum?
I didn’t measure, but it was not very large. The strongly pillowed pore surface was a surprise to me, only clearly seen on reviewing photos.
