These mushrooms were growing on the side of a large fallen oak. Such handsome clusters of Gymnopus are rarely found.

Gymnopus dryophilus for years. I would be interested in what it really is.

Maybe not…. But whatever it is, I think it is the same as observation 23916.

I also think they might look a lot different when they are dry even slightly.
