Observation 48141: Lacrymaria lacrymabunda (Bull.) Pat.

When: 2010-05-31

Collection location: near Claremont Canyon, Oakland, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Kay Loughman (kayloughman)

No specimen available

Notes:
I guess this damp spring prolonged the mushroom season. I found this mushroom along a barely-used trail in upper Claremont Canyon. Am attaching two pictures. In the first picture (#1321), the larger of the two (with the broken cap) was about 5" across; the smaller about 2" across. Just peeking out from under the right side of the larger is another mushroom, which I plucked and photographed. It is #1324. The caps had a velvety appearance.
