Specimen available

The very spicy taste and strange odor plus the slight bruising on the stipe lead me to Russula pectinata in Ben Woo’s Pacific Northwest Russula key.
Despite what it looks like in the picture their wastn’t any lilac colors on the stipe.

hm… I don’t think I have heard of that species. It only grows with pine? I wonder if we get it up here…

This looks like our Russula amoenolens from coastal CA under pines.
