Found these all over the woods looking for chanterelles yesterday. The did stain brown.. maybe they are volemus? Input appreciated, I have found alot of these lately.

that’s the hallmark of volemus…its white latex just pours out…also, as Doug pointed out, volemus has crowded gills that stain brown like these mushrooms.
Mature volemus also has a fishy odor, and a mild taste.
They are excellant edibles.

They kinda look more like L. volemus to me. L. hygrophoroides has really widely spaced really thick gills. L. volemus is pretty common right now here, but I’ll leave the id of yours to more eastern-US Lactarius-type people.
