Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]
These were first observed as little buttons on June 15 (middle photos). On July 22 they had matured (and there were more of them). One is the top picture, and the bottom picture is its underside. They are in an area designated D1D; D1 is a strip of forested land on one bank of the Indian River (so, low and damp) and D1D is a zone about halfway along it dominated by deciduous trees.
