Observation 50405: Amanita Pers.

When: 2010-08-15

Collection location: Oakland, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Kay Loughman (kayloughman)

No specimen available

This mushroom (two sides of the same fungus) was pushing up through the sopping wet duff under a Monterey pine, off of Grizzly Peak Blvd., at about 1600 ft. elevation. In this view, it was about 8-10 cm high, and maybe 7 cm in diameter. It reminds me of a puffball – but I couldn’t find any pictures that really confirmed that.
