Observation 50538: Suillus Gray

When: 2010-07-19

Collection location: Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Adam Singer (adam)

No specimen available

My Russian friends went on vacation to Canada and picked these mushrooms and ate them. They know the name/type but didn’t know the scientific or local name. Does anyone have any guesses? These mushrooms have pores, not gills and are soft/spongy and slimy, not hard like a bolete so my guess is some kind of suillus, but what kind…? They were picked in the forest on their drive from Lake Louise to Jasper. I tried searching for suillus and boletus and those two locations (3 since Jaspar had 2 entries) but came up empty.
