Observation 50945: Agaricales sensu lato

When: 2010-08-21

Collection location: northern India, India [Click for map]

Who: tripsis

No specimen available

An oyster-like species. I’ve tried keying it out but have been unsuccessful, even to genus, unless it is an unusual Pleurotus species, but the colour of the flesh seems wrong to me.

They were found growing directly off dead wood, at an altitude of around 2000m.

Brown attached lamellae. Stipe maybe 1cm in length, 0.5cm in diameter. Pileus up to around 5cm in length and 4cm in diameter, spathulate. Flesh also brown, the same or colour a slightly paler shade as the lamellae.

Spore colour is a pale peach, i.e. pale yellow tinged with pink.
Pale peach.

The scent was very familiar but I couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was, so an earthy mushroom scent will have to do as the description.
