Observation 50948: Macrolepiota Singer

When: 2010-08-21

Collection location: northern India, India [Click for map]

Who: tripsis

No specimen available

The ones I have found in India look a little different to the single specimen I found in Australia, so I’m not positive it is M. procera.

Found growing directly from soil in coniferous forest, in the Himalayas at around 2000m above sea level.

Lamellae unattached, white to pale brown (with age).

Stipe ~12cm in length, 1cm – 1.5cm in diameter, fleshy fibrous, hollow, with a small annulus.

Pileus ~10cm in diameter, cream background with a pale brown umbo and centre. Convex to plane.

Spore print color was white.

They had a faintly nutty scent and very soft flesh.
