Observation 50962: Inocybe asterospora Quél.

When: 2010-08-14

Collection location: Ježkovice, Czech Republic [Click for map]

Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)

Specimen available

Found under mixed hardwoods, mostly oak.

Adding some micro-details:

The first micro-shot is of the gill edge at 400x in KOH. The cheilocystidia are metuloid and incrusted. There are also lots of similar pleurocystidia.

The second micro-shot is of spores from the gill at 1000x in KOH. The spores are tan, and extremely nodulose to star-like.

With these spores, cystidia, the smooth pink-brown stipes, slightly marginate-bulbose bases, and growth with oaks, it seems that these are Inocybe asterospora (according to Funga Nordica).
