I think this may be an example of a post mature Pulveroboletus ravenelii with virtually no signs of the partial veil.

SW of Somerset, PA. The ski resort Seven Springs is on one side of a mountain. On the other side there’s a lot of State Forest land. I didn’t take any notes on this specimen, so I can’t say which type of area. We hunted mixed hardwood ridges above a low lying area called “Blue Hole”, and one creekside area of conifers… hemlock, spruce, pine.

The cap stained slowly blue/green… after at least a few hours.
