Observation 51825: Suillus acidus (Peck) Singer

When: 2010-09-01

Collection location: Bemidji, Minnesota, USA [Click for map]

Who: damon brunette (damonbrunette)

No specimen available

Notes:
Formerly call S. acidus, licking the cap gives a good indicator of this lemon-puckery trait. I saw hundreds of these this weekend in an exclusively red pine stand. The black dots near the base seemed to be a key as well. Ammonia stains the cap negative and the flesh and gills red pink.
