Observation 52186: Xerula furfuracea (Peck) Redhead, Ginns & Shoemaker

When: 2010-09-06

Collection location: Zaleski State Forest, Ohio, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dan Molter (shroomydan)

No specimen available

This Xerula was growing from a rotten piece of wood standing a few feet off the ground. I usually find them growing from the ground or occasionally from a well-rotted stump. This is the first time I’ve seen one growing from wood high off the ground.
