Found in D9C under mixed trees including mature Populus tremuloides, but looks like the same species as in observation 53016, observation 52912, and observation 52510. Those were in Zones 45, 48, and 06, respectively, of which all are hardwood-dominated and have old hardwood trees and all but 06 have old quaking aspens.

As in the other three cases, they were locally abundant within a small patch, with scattered individual fruitbodies sometimes in closely-spaced small groups.
