Recognized by sight: An extensive whitish lichen colony near the base of Multnomah Falls, taken with a zoom lens from approximately 150 feet away, standing on the bridge overlooking the lower falls. Area of colonization in constant spray from falls, and probably would measure 40 feet wide at least. Sorry about the lack of detail, but off-trail exploration is not encouraged in this area due to extensive foot traffic and tourism.
