Observation 55403: Polyporales sensu lato

When: 2010-10-12

Collection location: Beaver Co., Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Bob Zuberbuhler (Bob Z)

No specimen available

Medium size shelves found on a dead tree. The upper side was brown and there were brown pores below. In the specimen pictured there were a few whitish areas on the underside, and on one specimen most of the underside was covered with a white layer. I think this is likely hypomyces. In the magnified photo there are tiny greenish “bushes” on the underside. Is this another fungus? A mold?
