Observation 56316: Peltigera extenuata (Vainio) Lojka

When: 2010-10-21

Collection location: Grouse Lake, Wells Gray region, British Columbia, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Jason Hollinger (jason)

Specimen available

growing on side of mossy boulder at edge of talus field

This is an unusual specimen because the soralia have apparently been aborted due to a parasite of some sort. Trevor Goward has collected this before, as well. But the second photo is a fine shot of the underside, which is typically very difficult to clean due to the minute size and delicacy of the thallus.
