Recognized by sight: because of the shape. but it should be confirmed microscopically. Tremella species have basidia that are lengthwise divided and look from above like a hot cross bun. Dacrymyces has basidia that are long and slender and divided at the top resembling first dog bones, later fully grown they look like tuning forks.
