When: 2010-11-01

Collection location: Cartersville, Georgia, USA [Click for map]

Who: AmatoxinApocalypse (AmatoxinApocalypse)

No specimen available

Notes:
I am calling this Gymnopilus junonius based on the size and the heavy blue and green staining seen on these specimens.

The largest cap was 8 inches across, the stems were incredibly thick.

Sensu stricto does not bruise blue. No magic in him.
This name should be changed to g.j. sensu lato or to appropriate Gymnopilus species from that group.

With that pileus texture I’d be confident with G. speciosissimus
